Case Study

ORIM
ATHLETICS

2024–2025 | Tiered Football Jersey System

Scroll to explore the technical engineering behind ORIM's tiered jersey architecture. Watch the construction details reveal as you move through each phase.

01 — Problem

No Technical
Infrastructure

An ambitious founder driving a high-growth athletics program with no in-house technical capability or expertise. To scale, he envisioned a disciplined three-tier uniform framework spanning entry-level youth leagues up to elite varsity programs. They were differentiated by materials, construction detail and execution, fit precision, and articulation depth.

02a — Collar Engineering

Neckline
Construction

Engineered a 1×1 rib collar system that is unrestrictive, has no grabbing points, and maintains elasticity without rolling. A custom multi-fabric collar mapped the neck opening geometry to eliminate gapping at the shoulder junction. The collar sits precisely on the body — no distortion, no grabbing points, no stretch-out over time.

02b — Seam Architecture

Shoulder
Seam Placement

Offset panelling and seam placement eliminates bulk at the shoulder cap where athletes feel pressure during arm movement. Split-needle overlock technique maintains seam elasticity while keeping the profile minimal. Validated through player focus group testing.

02c — Compression Mapping

Gradient
Compression

Tier 1 utilised laser perforated, variable Aero-Knit fabric weights to create targeted compression zones. Tier 1 deploys varying fabric weights at friction-prone areas throughout the kit — optimising protection & power delivery per muscle group without uniform bulk.

02d — Bodice Articulation

Ease-of-Movement
Engineering

The sleeve was engineered for maximum arm articulation. Ease allowance calculated from athlete range of motion data. The armhole and sleeve cap accommodate overhead reaches, lateral throws, and explosive movements without fabric bunching or being restrictive while remaining tight and compressed.

02e — Joining Technique

Ultrasonic
Welding

Tier 1 replaces traditional multi-stitch seams with ultrasonic welding and bonded tapes. Zero seam bulk. Zero skin irritation. Zero drag. Industry standard uses stitched seams that create friction points — ORIM eliminated that entirely.
